Macadamia
Villages - When and Where did
it all Start?
During the transition year of
1994 we took transfer of the land
on which Macadamia Village
White River (White River
in Mpumalanga Province) now stands.
This was a delicate time in South
Africa’s history, an uncertain
and unchartered road ahead. We
anticipated that government subsidies
for retirement homes might eventually
disappear.
Since the first Village, the name
has now become synonymous with
retirement housing and fourteen
years later an additional two
Macadamia Villages have been established:
Macadamia Village West
Acres (in Nelspruit,
Mpumalanga Province) and Macadamia
Village Tzaneen (in Tzaneen,
Limpopo Province).
At the end of 2008 Macadamia Villages
announced that a fourth village,
Macadamia Village Sonheuwel,
(the second Macadamia Village
for Nelspruit) was being planned.
Development is anticipated to
start at the beginning of 2010.
